Its a funny story!
I would always see this young gentleman training at the gym I went to in Oakville. One day… I saw him randomly at the Tanning Salon I went too, and that’s where we ended up chatting about it all. What he did… How he did it (bodybuilding shows) and that’s when he gave me his Personal Training card. I wasn’t the type who could picture myself in a bikini and heels on stage as I was very much the typical “Tom boy” type of girl. I thought about it here and there for about 6-7 months and then decided why not try something new for a change and get outside my comfort zone. So, I started training with him for my first show and never really looked back (9 years later now).
I never imagined this to be honest. I remember telling my parents for the first time. They said “ya ya, sure. We will see it when it happens” as I was always the type to take on many tasks and not complete them or get halfway through and realize I didn’t want to continue, so no one took me seriously. Until I walked up on that stage. I had my whole family there cheering me on, and I remember my dad telling me how proud he was of me as I won my first show and didn’t give up on it or myself!
Was a proud moment for myself also. Gave me a whole new outlook on life and what I was actually capable of "IF" I actually put everything into something without giving up on myself during the process. Hard work Pays off, right :)
Looking back to where I started to where I am now, 9 years later is really surreal. I am thankful for every opportunity that has come my way and blessed to be able to do what I love.
To date, I am the only Female Canadian Bikini IFBB Competitor who has competed at the Arnold Classic, and Olympia.
